Freckle Top Tips – How to Design a Logo When Branding Your Business
16th March, 2009

Creating identity and attracting potential customers is essential for any organisation. A logo provides a first impression, and as first impressions count, it is important not to underestimate the advantages of an impacting logo.
Here are our top five tips to consider when planning a logo for your company or organisation:
- A logo should be eye catching and simple. As logos are used to advertise products or services the design needs to attract attention.
- Logos should reflect either the name of the organisation or the area of work in which it is involved. A logo is a promotional tool. Take the opportunity to promote your organisation.
- Be unique. Make sure a similar design is not being used by another organisation in your field.
- If you have a tagline or slogan it needs to be memorable. Avoid large amounts of text. A logo is there to provide viewers with an introduction not a life story.
- Get feedback from a few ‘trusted’ sources. Although the final decision is yours it is always good to gage the opinion of clients and colleagues. A good logo represents your organisation not your own preferences. A second opinion always helps.
