Street Soccer – Football Fundraising Event – Manchester
14th June, 2009

Over the weekend of 12th and 13th June, Freckle team members Ian, Rich and Dave took part in a 24 hour fundraising event for Manchester based charity, Street Soccer. Run by two of our good friends, Simon Murphy and Andy Thorp, Street Soccer focuses on the rehabilitation of homeless men and those not in employment, education or training, in the Greater Manchester area. Their objective is to provide support for those with chaotic lifestyles, through football.
Soccer 24 is the premier fundraiser of Street Soccer. Beginning on Friday evening the 2009 event saw the Street Soccer team take on 24 opponents from across the country, culminating in one full day of matches. We were even joined by Ex-England international Earl Barrett, showing his support for the project. By the time the former Oldham, Aston Villa and Everton defender arrived on Saturday afternoon we could have all done with him lacing up his boots and giving us a break! Soccer 24 really was the ultimate soccer endurance event.
Aching limbs and blistered feet aside, Soccer 24 was a fantastic success, raising a significant amount of money for this fantastic organisation. For more information about Street Soccer please visit the website
